Fort Knucklebone - Your wretched hive of scum and villainy

A jagged silhouette of rusted towers and crooked walls looms shrouded by the red haze, a jagged carcass stitched together from scrap metal, burnt out engines, and scorched plating. Crooked wind turbines creak and rattle in the dry heat, their vents choking on ash and metal cuttings. Arcs of lightning span between exposed coils, adding notes of ozone to the pervasive scent of burning oil.
Even from afar, you can see lights, flickering strings of crystals dangling from wire lines. They sway in the heat haze, casting dancing reflections across the dust-covered ground. Closer still, you can make out the movement of shapes among the wreckage: merchants, scavengers, creatures wrapped in soot and smoke. The whole place feels alive, a bustling hive torn open to expose the unsightly structures within.
Fort Knucklebone isn’t beautiful, but it sure is unforgettable. A place where the broken, the damned, and the reckless gather beneath the endless firelight of Avernus, a scrap heap - sanctuary, held together by the stubborn will to persist and a powerful Hag at the center of it all.
This release contains eight battlemaps and eight sceneries — all interconnected to make Fort Knucklebone a fully walkable location:
-
The Gate: Built from and around a derelict ship; nobody knows how it got here.
-
The Junkyard: The central plaza connecting all maps, where the Hag’s prime minion wanders.
-
Tinker’s Shed: An infernal workshop revolving around Infernal War Machines.
-
The Hostel: An improvised encampment that is perfect to get a good night’s rest without having to stay vigilant. (A murderer wrote this).
-
The Well: A wretched hive of scum and villainy. Even worse, a tiki-bar. Perfect to take on jobs and enemies.
-
The Arcade: Here gather bustling crowds, where traders sell their wares from all over the Seven Hells.
-
Mad Maggie’s Lair: The private quarters of the Night Hag, trespassing forbidden.
-
The Dream Machine: An eldritch apparatus, used by Maggie to gently and consensually blur the lines of dream and reality.
It also includes 47 3D-rendered handouts and three cinematic intro sequences — covering the arrival at the gate, the Dream Machine synchronization, and the infernal tavern The Well.
Use it for: The perfect open sandbox hub in Avernus, ideal to spend downtime, pick up new quests or further explore the setting for the Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus module or any adventure taking place in Avernus. The modular structure allows easy insertion of homebrew quests, visiting NPCs, or external homebrew tie-ins.
Combine with other Beneos releases
Use Fort Knucklebones in the context of your Descent into Avernus campaign, the perfect spot to interact with the Infernal War Machines, each of which is available as a seperate release! A special mention also to Release 60, the Molten Court, if you’re planning a Homebrew Adventure including some of the Warlords or NPCs.

BENEOS SEARCH ENGINE
We have so many battle maps, intros, magic items, tokens, and custom spells that we have our own search engine. It is integrated into the Beneos module for Foundry VTT, but can also be used free of charge online to see everything we have.

If you are a Beneos Tokens, Spells and Loot Patron, you can use a plethora of devils to populate the streets.
Reclusive cliques of Hellwrights escorted by Automaton Enforcers tending to the machinery or scouring the Arcade for parts, ill-disciplined Infernal Infantry playing the part of the overly confrontational military garrison or gangs of Boarding Imps duking out their rivalries at night, much to the dismay of the denizens of the Hostel. We have a lot of different devils, some belonging to the higher infernal courts - great templates to act as agents or recruiters for warlords or powerful devils - as well as Bloodhowlers, Immolators or Invocators representing the forces of the Infernal Legions. There’s endless possibilities and each creature comes with a bunch of story prompts and foreshadowing prompts that you can distribute all over the place, adding that much more depth without any extra effort.
New Devil: Hellracer Hellwright
New Boss: Ghoul Monarch
A massive release containing one of my favorite creatures I've done so far. Honestly, this should have probably been a Loyalty Token release for how much time it took, but here we are!
New Spells: Cowfather's Kin, Stormspear, Supercell & Elemental Blessing

I do love everything storm-related, be it the Azure Dragon-Sage, the Uvargandr or the Stormwrath Marauders, I always enjoy coming up with mechanics and imagery within that design sphere. So, if you are into storms as a whole, you'll enjoy these spells. Also there's some crow stuff sprinkled in, if you, like me or Usidore the Blue, Wizard of the 12th Realm of Ephysiyies, Master of Light and Shadow, Manipulator of Magical Delights, Devourer of Chaos, Champion of the Great Halls of Terr'akkas, the elves know him as Fi’ang Yalok, the dwarfs know me as Zoenen Hoogstandjes, and he is also known in the Northeast as Gaismunēnas Meistar, and like birds, you'll enjoy that spell as well!
New Loot: Proliferating Plate, Festering Blade, Teeth-Smasher Tankard & A Drink of Despair

Proliferating Plate and Festering Blade are both of the Mutation origin, meaning they are innately disgusting but effective. The armor allows you to adapt to your opponents' arsenal by granting resistance against damage types upon suffering from them (the cleansing might of radiant and fire damage disables this, however!), while the blade's critical hits leave your enemies suffering from festering wounds. These wounds deal a little bit of damage over time and contain a nasty suprise, should anyone try to heal themselves while carrying the festering seeds of mutation within them...

Better production pipeline = shorter release times
As you can see in this video, we have reorganized our work. Leon and Fernando are assisting me with the videos and the Foundry VTT setup, allowing me to focus entirely on creating maps. Due to the transition period, this release took longer than others, but in the future, there should be a significantly shorter release cycle for Beneos Battlemaps releases.
