New Giants: Frost Giant Warrior
"Legends say that the primordial Ice Titan Yûn was so enamored with the living beings that came to populate the world that he gave his own body to provide the landmass necessary for them to prosper. His mind, however, ascended, and born from the titan's dream there soon emerged giant-kin, soulbound to the Allfather yet independent in thought and deed. The frost giants stem from the snow worlds of Ysharg, through which flows the Firnvann, their river of souls. Outside of Yûn's dream they are among the most belligerent of his children and a source of constant upheaval, for they are often found at the vanguard of war-marches or raiding fleets that shake apart the existing order. Where they settle, they freeze fast, and only rarely do they break away from such places for good; far more often they set about subjugating the surrounding lands, until they meet challenges they cannot overcome or until they at last harden into the ice whose essence they carry within them;their bodies becoming one with their Allfather's, their souls ascending back into his dream, only to be borne one day through the floods of the Firnvann into the profane world once more, beginning a new lifecycle with only the faintest memories of the previous ones."
Giants are among my favourite creatures, I just love the scale and grandeur they bring to a setting. My world is littered with weathered towering blades, seemingly discarded by their titanic wielders and where others can't help themselves to not add dragons or demons to every campagin, my players rarely get to finish an adventure without giants playing some kind of role.
So fitting for the latest release, here are the frost giants making their first earth-shattering steps out of the shadowy place within my mind where I have kept them from you for the longest of time.
I hope you enjoy my reinterpretation of this originally lacklustre statblock!
