Valiant and Versatile: Modular Outpost

Valiant and Versatile: Modular Outpost

A respectable palisade separating the inside from the outside, rustic timber-framed and stone houses, tents filling every gap and a muddy main road cutting straight through. Regardless what campaign your’re playing, you will find a use for this Outpost!

Check out the video to see how to get the most out of this versatile map pack!

A classic gated entrance, perfect to negotiate with bribable guards or defend it against a siege troll.

After giving the tyrant deity of dragons herself a form in our last release, we're heading into somewhat calmer territory for the end of the month, which doesn't mean we didn't pour a ton of thought, love, and attention to detail into this release. Best check out the video to see all the little highlights and features this map pack has to offer!

ALL IN ALL:

  • 5x Animated battlemaps + 5x animated sceneries

  • 1x Custom ambient audio tracks

  • 1x animated intro sequence

  • 3D-rendered player handouts

Additional Content: Beneos Creatures, Spells & Loot supporters gain access to eight creatures, a whole gang of bandit archetypes and their pet dogs!

Let's take a detailed look at each map and talk about what makes each of them a great fit for your adventures.

Map 1 - Gate Area

Because the whole camp is interconnected, you can use it as the grounds for one continuous heist or a massive battle.

What makes this release truly special is the sheer number of overlay pieces. Every single tent, every tree and the tops of the towers can be hidden individually in Foundry.

Map 2 - Outpost Center

Your players can't look inside a tent until they actually go there, the treetops fade as they move beneath them, so the outpost reveals itself step by step.

There is SO much you can do here. A military outpost, a refugee camp, knights gathering around a tournament place, an improvised quarantine zone where a village keeps the afflicted or the hideout of a gang of bandit cutthroats.

The cages in the center are a  great way to set up a one shot or recover from a fight gone badly: The party wakes up behind bars without their gear and we’re right into stealing keys, distracting guards, recruiting other prisoners and staging a grand escape.

Map 3 - Eastern Quarter

The outer edge is lush and wild,  with fences and tall grass reaching right up to the palisade. This is the route for everyone who'd rather avoid the front gate: crawl through the grass, climb the fence, and slip into the streets unseen.

Map 4 - Houses & Streets

Alleys, streets and houses, many of them with interiors you can walk into. Hold a secret meeting inside, let a tense conversation in one of the huts escalate into a brawl, or chase a pickpocket through the narrow lanes.

There's plenty of room to flee and plenty of corners to cut. And this map works far beyond the outpost: whenever your party starts trouble in a random village, you have a town map ready to run without any extra prep.

Map 5 - Outer Wall

More space for you to fill with whatever you deem important, another lightly guarded area ready to be sneaked through or maybe the sleeping place of the camp leader’s beloved mount - how about any of our wyvern variants?

By default, the outpost sits in a bright, friendly forest with positive vibes. With FXMaster, you can take it somewhere else entirely: desaturate the colors, add fog and drizzle, poison mist, ash rain and the same camp transforms into an arctic outpost or a haunted field hospital. You should really check out the video to see how to get the most out of this pack!

As always, we aim to release our content in whatever way is most useful for you, which is why here too we're once again taking the approach of a massive accompanying release of Beneos creatures, spells, and loot.

Along with the maps, Beneos Creatures, Spells & Loot relases the following creatures:

  • Bandit Roadscourge, the crew's shrewd leader

  • Bandit Coachbreaker, the muscle and heart of the crew

  • Bandit Ragstitcher, an exiled field surgeon

  • Bandit Deceiver, a nimble-fingered mage fallen on hard times

  • Bandit Carrion Crow, a versatile sniper

  • Bandit Trapper, a sadistic pyromaniac

  • Hound, a bandit's best friend

  • Pack of Hounds, a multitude of best friends

This release contains basically a complete overhaul for any kind of bandit archetype, you will never be forced to use SRD bandits, bandit captains, thugs or whatever else passes for this genre staple again. They synergize with each other, with the Roadscourge at the head of the operation, the Ragstitcher keeping them from keeling over and the Carrion Crow delivering poignant ranged support, while the Coachbreaker does exactly what his name entails.

These creatures are perfectly suited for any kind of roadside ambush or back alley mugging and paired with the already existing Gutterfists, this collection grows into a veritable army of mean-looking motherfoolers. Each of them plays their role well and will turn any kind of roadside ambush into an interesting setpiece, rather than a waste of everyone's time.

Gone are days of navigating Google Drive or Moulinette. If you are using Foundry VTT, you can import the Foundry Tier content straight through our updated module. If you want to download the files, you can do so from our website, beneos-battlemaps.com.

Create a Beneos Cloud Account using the same email adress for your Patreon Account and you will be automatically verified within minutes and can download your zip files from our cloud.

Beneos Streaming is coming

This applies only to Foundry VTT users.

If you haven't, check out this post about how your life continues to become easier because you are supporting Beneos.

Streaming is a new way to use your content for VTTs. Beneos Shop costumers or active patrons have unrestricted access, no limits or throttling.

Because content is streamed instead of uploaded, we can bring Beneos maps to other browser based virtual tabletops. A Roll20 integration is in the works, and it does not touch your Roll20 storage quota at all. The same goes for Owlbear Rodeo and AboveVTT. We'll share more when we have more to show.

Check out the aforementioned post for more details!

A lot of changes have been made to the cloud, to the module, to the whole Beneos ecosystem. There is a whole different post detailing all the changes we have made, that you can (any probably should, because its super cool) check out here!

There's also a detailed FAQ that will bring you up to speed!
